Zodiac Hurricane was one of the first builders to recognize the need for luxury SOLAS approved custom tenders for Yachts over 500 tons and delivered their first MCA approved Proluxe 561 in 2000.
One of the main criterion in choosing a builder for a SOLAS yacht tender is the degree of engineering resources available to support a credible and properly documented effort. Zodiac Hurricane has a permanent staff of in house engineers plus subcontractors that provide the know how of ensuring that your custom SOLAS tender will fit your requirements and stay within Class.
Zodiac Hurricane is one of the few Yacht tender builders that actively maintain a certificated Quality Assurance system compliant with ISO 9001-2008 which provides customers a level of comfort that technical issues are properly managed ensuring traceability throughout processes.
Whilst SOLAS regulations are quite clear, there is always some flexibility in interpretation that can be accepted provided there is sufficient documentation to back it up. Zodiac Hurricane can propose sensible engineered solutions to satisfy most of the challenges and incompatibilities that arise.
The platforms that provide the basis of the approved rescue tenders are all mature proven hulls currently in operation around the world on Naval ships, Coastguard vessels and Yachts. They are finished to a yacht quality level whilst retaining their reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) classifications that have been mandated by different Departments of Defence. Therefore a Yacht Captain and Chief engineer will be benefitting from the same level of RAM that a Navy ship expects from their tender.
What this means is that spare parts are fully documented and available to be shipped anywhere in the world using modern logistic services companies.
Available in 4 sizes from 5.8m to 7.5m, Zodiac Hurricane rescue boats are all diesel powered driving either sterndrives or waterjets.
